Get a grip
By FRANCES SOMERS

It's so nice to see skateboarders helping our old folks. No, not teaching them how to ollie; showing them how to get a grip. Grip tape, that gritty paper that boarders put on their deck so their shoes can grip the board, also can be used to keep your unsteady grandma from slipping on a rain-slick porch step. Seattleite Jesse Milden drew on years of boarding and graphic design to create his anti-slip stickers, which can be applied to wood, concrete, fiberglass, linoleum and other smooth flooring surfaces. His designs include stars, diamonds, flowers, goldfish, hearts, fleur de lis, diamonds and, of course, skulls. Get a package of eight to 12 designs for $12 from subheadgrip.com.
